The station Brand-Erbisdorf is the station of the south of Freiberg town lying Brand-Erbisdorf in mittelsachsen in the Erzgebirge .

location

The station is located in the eastern center of the city in the Brand district, which is why it was initially named Brand. It was only after the union with Erbisdorf in 1912 that the station was given the name Brand-Erbisdorf , which is still valid today ; the Erbisdorf stop on the Brand-Erbisdorf – Langenau railway line was named Brand-Erbisdorf Hp .

history

Surname

In its history, the station has already had three different names, in detail these were:

  • until 1911: Fire near Freiberg
  • until 1912: Brand b Freiberg (Sa)
  • since 1912: Brand-Erbisdorf (1912: union of Brand and Erbisdorf)

business

The Brand bei Freiberg stop was opened on July 15, 1890 at the same time as the Berthelsdorf – Großhartmannsdorf line and the branch line to Langenau at the station . On May 1, 1905, the Brand stop near Freiberg received the status of a train station. When the town of Brand and the municipality of Erbisdorf merged to form the town of Brand-Erbisdorf, the Brand train station was given the name Brand-Erbisdorf on July 20, 1912 and the Erbisdorf stop was given the name Brand-Erbisdorf Hp .

While initially only the trains to and from Großhartmannsdorf to and from Freiberg were tied through, this was also done later with the trains to and from Langenau . On December 2, 1973, travel between Brand-Erbisdorf and Großhartmannsdorf was given up in favor of faster bus connections on what is now federal highway 101 . In freight traffic, the siding of the seating furniture factory was still used until 1975, then the track was dismantled from kilometer 6.65. However, the route between Berthelsdorf and Brand-Erbisdorf remained in operation for passenger and freight traffic.

Brand-Erbisdorf station experienced a high point between July 14 and 20, 1990 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the two railway lines. In addition to a vehicle exhibition in Brand-Erbisdorf, there were several special trains hauled by steam locomotives. With the political change in East Germany in 1989/90 there was a significant slump in the transport services provided. On June 1, 1997, the remaining travel services on the Freiberg (Sachs) –Langenau (Sachs) route via Brand-Erbisdorf were discontinued. Due to the failure of the responsible Free State of Saxony to cancel travel , travel between Freiberg and Brand-Erbisdorf was resumed between August 28, 1997 and May 23, 1998. The only freight customer left was the press and forge in Brand-Erbisdorf. It has not been supplied by rail since 2012.

In May 2000, the remaining Berthelsdorf – Brand-Erbisdorf railway infrastructure was transferred to the private railway infrastructure company RP-Eisenbahn for a 20-year lease . This has been operating the Freiberg – Holzhau connection since 2000 , where the Berthelsdorf (Erzgeb) train station is located. For the first time since 1998, passenger trains ran between Freiberg and Brand-Erbisdorf for the Bergstadtfest in Freiberg on June 25 and 26, 2016. The special trips were organized by the interest group “Perspectives on the Preservation of the Freiberg – Holzhau Railway”. A historic train from the Railway Construction and Operating Company Pressnitztalbahn (PRESS) was used.

At the location of the Brand-Erbisdorf train station on "Bahnhofstrasse", the reception building, the goods shed, the signal box and the railway maintenance building have been preserved.
