The station German Wagram is a through station in Lower Austria and one of two train stations in German-Wagram . It is one of the oldest train stations in Austria. There are three listed buildings on the site of the train station: the reception building , a water station and the workers' waiting room .

history

In 1837 the first section of the northern line was completed. On November 13, 1837, this route was driven for the first time with a test train. Ten days later, invited guests also took part in test drives. The first scheduled train ran on January 6, 1838. Until 1908 the station was only called Wagram.

When it opened in 1837, the first reception building ( reception building ) was built at Deutsch-Wagram station. In 1854, however, this was torn down and replaced by a new one that still exists today. It was rebuilt in 1862. In 1984–1987 a restoration with reconstruction of the facade was carried out.

The water tower , the oldest preserved water station in Austria, was built in 1846. The three-storey building with single-storey wings and an octagonal steam chimney at the rear has a simple plaster structure with corner blocks.

The former workers' waiting room was built in 1908. Today it houses a small railway museum .

In 1987, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Austrian railway, a monument to the German-Wagram-based sculptor and master stonemason Leopold Grausam junior was erected between the station and the railway museum, next to the reception building . erected showing the steam locomotive " AUSTRIA ", made in sandstone.

In 2013/14 the platform was lengthened, partially provided with a roof, two lifts and a ramp were installed, and the Park & ​​Ride facility was expanded.

The platforms can be reached through an underpass from the east of the station. Of the three platforms, platform 1 is a house platform , 2/3 are center platforms . Regional buses stop at the station forecourt .
