The Dietzenbach Mitte station is a through station in the Hessian city of Dietzenbach . It is used exclusively for S-Bahn traffic.

history

The Dietzenbach Mitte station was opened on December 14, 2003 as a station as part of the reconstruction of the Offenbach-Bieber – Dietzenbach railway line to S-Bahn operation - a branch line that branches off the Rodgau Railway in Offenbach-Bieber . The S-Bahn line S2 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Main has been running on the Offenbach-Bieber – Dietzenbach railway since 2003 to Dietzenbach Bahnhof .

On December 1, 1898, the Offenbach-Bieber – Dietzenbach line was opened as a branch of the Rodgau Railway. The trains ran on this route between Dietzenbach (Hess) station and Offenbach main station . On June 18, 1982, passenger traffic on the line was (temporarily) stopped because the capacity utilization of the trains decreased sharply due to the increasing car traffic. The route was then only used marginally for freight traffic and the trains were replaced by bus services. At the 2003/2004 timetable change on December 14, 2003, the S-Bahn began operating and the route became part of the S-Bahn line S2 (Niedernhausen – Dietzenbach) of the Rhein-Main S-Bahn .

In the course of the expansion to the S-Bahn, the station was newly built on the existing route. The station is particularly popular for commuters from the Offenbach district , as it is close to the district administration and at a larger bus transfer hub. The so-called “Rathaus-Center” is located about 500 meters from the train station.

Trivia

On the occasion of the Hessentag in 2001 in Dietzenbach, special trains ran on the Offenbach-Bieber – Dietzenbach railway line between Dietzenbach and Offenbach's main train station. For this purpose, a makeshift station was built at the current location of the Dietzenbach Mitte station. This was used by visitors to the Hessentag to travel by train. The shuttle service was also viewed as a pilot project in the run -up to the S-Bahn.

Infrastructure

The station has two tracks on a central platform . The route to Dietzenbach train station and towards Offenbach runs at ground level in both directions. At the southern end of the platform, the route initially runs over a bridge before the tracks come together. From the northern end of the platform, the line continues on two tracks to Dietzenbach-Steinberg station .

business

Today the station serves exclusively the S-Bahn line S2. These drive to Niedernhausen via Heusenstamm , Offenbach , Frankfurt and Hofheim . In the opposite direction, the S2 runs one station further to Dietzenbach train station .

The S2 runs every 30 minutes. During rush hour , this basic cycle is compressed to a 15-minute cycle.

The two Dietzenbach city bus routes OF-56 and OF-57 as well as the two regional bus routes OF-95 and OF-99 operate from here .
