The Emmenbrücke station is a station in the Emmenbrücke district of Emmen LU is one of the four stations in the municipality. In addition to various sidings, the station includes the two railway stations Emmenbrücke and Emmenbrücke Gersag as well as the Hübeli junction.

history

Emmenbrücke received a railway connection in 1856 when the Swiss Central Railway opened its main line from Aarau via Olten , Zofingen and Sursee to Emmenbrücke. The extension to Lucerne followed three years later.

At the suggestion of the engineer Theodor Lutz , well-known financiers founded the Lake Valley of Switzerland Railway Company in London in 1882 . In 1883 the line from Emmenbrücke to Lenzburg was put into operation in two stages. To connect the trains from Lenzburg to Lucerne, a hairpin in Emmenbrücke was necessary, in order to save costs, the route was built according to Lutz's ideas along the main road through Emmen. There were a total of 40 level crossings in the through-town, so that the Seetalbahn was considered dangerous in this section in particular. Proposals for re-routing were made as early as 1960, and after financial security and objections, construction could begin in 1994. After four years of construction, the new Waldibrücke – Hübeli line went into operation on May 23, 1998. The old route is used as a bike and walkway along its entire length. Parallel to this, the industrial siding was rebuilt from Waldibrücke to the former Flugzeugwerk stop. In 2002, the Emmenbrücke Gersag stop was opened between Hübeli and Emmenbrücke , which is also in the station area.

investment

The Emmenbrücke station has two public areas - the Emmenbrücke and Emmenbrücke Gersag stations . In terms of signaling, it comprises two sections, with Emmenbrücke Gersag in this. Also part of the diversion Hübeli where the Seetalbahn of the Olten-Lucerne railway line branches off to the station area. In addition, the station has various sidings such as the Schmolz & Bickenbach steelworks.

Emmenbrücke Gersag

The Emmenbrücke Gersag stop comprises two side platforms on the two track tracks. It was built in 2002 to develop the center of the same name and is also located under it.

traffic

Emmenbrücke

Emmenbrücke station is served by five trains every hour:

Several steel trains depart from Emmenbrücke to parts of Switzerland or Lecco in Italy every day .

Emmenbrücke Gersag

The Emmenbrücke Gersag stop is served by four trains every hour.

  • S 1 Baar – Zug – Luzern – Sursee (every half hour)
  • S 9 Lucerne – Lenzburg (every half hour)

In Gersag, the connection from the S1 from Sursee to the S9 to Lenzburg and vice versa is ensured.

Spange Emmenbrücke

Due to the capacity bottlenecks on the only two-lane access route to Lucerne train station, which in particular makes it impossible to expand regional traffic, there are also other variants in addition to the Lucerne underground station, such as a connecting clip from Emmenbrücke to the Zug-Lucerne railway line, in order to especially prevent the Gotthard trains from turning heads in Lucerne save. As a replacement for the discontinued stop in Lucerne, the Emmenbrücke station is to be expanded into a long-distance train station.
