The Himeji station ( Japanese 姫 路 駅 Himeji-eki ) in the city of Himeji in Japan is a regionally important station of the former state railway company Japan Railways , and under the name Sanyō-Himeji the western terminus of the railway company San'yō Denki Tetsudō .
Himeji Station was built in 1888 by San'yō Tetsudō , nationalized in 1909 , making it one of the earliest train stations in Japan.

- The JR Sanyō-Shinkansen runs from Shin-Ōsaka via Himeji to Hakata :
- The JR Kobe line is the continuation of the Tōkaidō main line coming from Kobe , from Himeji to Fukuoka on Kyūshū it is called the Sanyō main line .
- The JR Bantan Line runs 41 miles north from Himeji to Wadayama .
- The JR Kishin Line runs from Himeji via Tsuyama to the small town of Niimi, about 160 km away, in the northwest of the neighboring Okayama Prefecture .
The trains of the San'yō main line of the private San'yō Denki Tetsudō run between Himeji and Nishidai in Kobe on their own tracks, and further on urban tracks of the Kōsoku-Kobe route and tracks of the Hankyū Dentetsu to beyond the city center of Kobe.
