history
The purpose of the station is to connect the Shinkansen to the local rail network, as a direct integration of the Osaka station, three kilometers away, into the Shinkansen line network was considered unrealizable due to its location in the city center. Shin-Osaka station offers connections to the Tōkaidō main line , the Takarazuka line and the Osaka subway , each of which has its own station section.
Shin-Osaka Subway Station, on the Midosuji Line of the Osaka Subway, opened on September 24, 1964. On October 1, 1964, the Shinkansen began operating. The Shin-Osaka station was the end of the Tōkaidō Shinkansen connection with Tokyo .
In March 1972, the extension of the Shinkansen line went into operation. The San'yō Shinkansen initially led to Okayama , since March 1975 the line has been extended to Hakata (Fukuoka). The San'yō-Shinkansen is connected to the Tōkaidō-Shinkansen, some trains run continuously between Tokyo and Hakata.
