The Leymen train station ( French Gare de Leymen ) is the train station in the Alsatian town of Leymen in Sundgau . It is located at kilometer 13.7 of the meter-gauge and electrified Basel – Rodersdorf railway and is the only station on French territory. This is operated by the Swiss Baselland Transport AG (BLT). The meanwhile unoccupied through station is located on the southern edge of the village on Rue de la Flüh and is also connected to the center of the village by Rue de la Gare . The station building is on the north side of the route, that is, towards the village.

history

BLT train in Leymen, 2009

The station was opened on May 1, 1910, when the then Birsigthalbahn (BTB) completed its only line by extending it from Flüh to Rodersdorf . At that time, Leymen still belonged to the German Empire , which had only approved the construction of the approximately three-kilometer-long section across its territory on the condition that Leymen also received a station. Since the change of operator from BTB to BLT at the beginning of 1974, the latter has been responsible for operations. In 1997 the half-timbered entrance building was completely renovated.
