The Lottengrün station was a local railway junction in Tirpersdorfer district Lottengrün in Saxony Vogtlandkreis . The two touching railway lines Herlasgrün – Oelsnitz (Vogtl) (section Falkenstein (Vogtl) –Oelsnitz (Vogtl.)) And Lottengrün – Plauen are out of service today. A cycle path was created on the Falkenstein – Oelsnitz section.

Geographical location

The former Lottengrün station was located northeast of Lottengrün on what is now the "Old Bahnhofstrasse". On the former area on the edge of a forest, there is a truck parking space and an allotment garden next to the railway cycle path. The former railway lines are still clearly recognizable from the wooded embankments.

history

Lottengrün station was built around 1869 from a water station installed here on the Herlasgrün – Oelsnitz railway line opened in 1865 . With the double-track expansion in the direction of Bergen , two switches and a stub track were added. Initially expanded to a freight loading point, from 1879 passenger traffic was also carried out. The station had a double house for the overseer and the gatekeeper, which was connected to the farm building in 1892. In this there was a goods room and the outlets with urinals. The fourth track was given a 100 m long side ramp and two raised platforms. The station, equipped with five turnouts, received a weighbridge in 1885. Between 1901 and 1922 there was a connecting line called "Himmers Branch Track".

From 1902 an industrial line branched off at Lottengrün (since 1905 train station) to the Theuma slate quarries, which was gradually extended as a public line to Chrieschwitz on the Gera Süd – Weischlitz line until 1923 . With the start of passenger traffic on this route, a passenger tunnel was created under the tracks of the Oelsnitz railway line to the new island platform in the triangle between the two railway lines. A heated waiting hall was located on top of this. Furthermore, since 1924 the station had a signal box for operating the switches and signals. Lottengrün station reached its greatest extent after the installation of a temporary platform on track 5 in the direction of Plauen. At the beginning of the 1930s, the station had seven tracks and 13 points.

Because of the low volume of traffic, it was decided in 1951, the section Lottengrün- Oelsnitz the herlasgrün-oelsnitz railway for so-called priority projects break down. On April 27, 1951, on the grounds that building materials were needed for the construction of the Berlin outer ring , the train service was discontinued and the line was dismantled a little later. At Lottengrün station , this affected main track 1 with points 6 and 10. By 1961, track 3 was also dismantled and the branch point in the direction of Plauen was moved back up to the level of the signal box. The crossing track received 4 protective switches on both sides. The freight tracks on the Oelsnitz side remained unchanged. On September 26, 1970, passenger traffic ended on the Falkenstein (Vogtl) –Lottengrün section and on the Lottengrün – Plauen railway line, making Lottengrün station a pure freight station. After the operation of the Theuma slate quarries on the railroad was discontinued in autumn 1972, Lottengrün station went out of service on October 1, 1972.

The station building, the platform underpass and the goods shed of the station in the east of Lottengrün were still preserved in 2001. Today there is a freight forwarding company and an allotment garden on the site next to the building that used to be the station's restaurant. On the route from Falkenstein (Vogtl) in the direction of Oelsnitz (Vogtl), a cycle path was created on or next to the former route.
