history

Old station sign near the Eichenheege level crossing

On June 10, 1848 was Frankfurt-Hanau Railway from the Frankfurt-Hanau Railway Company inaugurated; at that time the station did not yet exist. Just like the neighboring Rumpenheim stop (later: Bischofsheim-Rumpenheim , today: Maintal West ), the Hochstadt-Dörnigheim station (today: Maintal Ost) was built later. A station sign at the Eichenheege level crossing is evidence of the old station name Hochstadt-Dörnigheim .

construction

Switch to the former Kling factory on track 3 (dismantled at the end of 2010)

The station now consists of four tracks, two of which are passing tracks that are not used according to the schedule.

The station had a total of six tracks, supplemented by several sidings, as long as freight traffic took place here. He mainly supplied the Kling veneer factory, which was demolished in 1998, and the Intu-Bau company . With the abandonment of the veneer factory, freight traffic was stopped and the three southern tracks were neglected. In autumn 2009, two of them were half dismantled and a siding was replaced at the same time.

Today there are three platforms for passenger traffic on the two main tracks and on the northern passing track. The lying on the south side station building has no function for passengers. It is rented out for events. Tickets for local traffic operated by RMV and long-distance traffic operated by Deutsche Bahn are only available at ticket machines . There is a free P + R car park for passengers on both the Hochstädter and Dörnigheim side of the station . There is also a taxi parking lot on the Dörnigheim side.
