The station Norten-Hardenberg is the Station of Lower Saxony patch Norten-Hardenberg . It is located, with two platforms, on the Hanover Southern Railway and, without platforms, on the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg . The two lines are connected to each other in the area of the station with a series of switches.

construction

Southern part of the station with switch connections and overtaking tracks on the existing line (left) and the new line (right) (approx. 1991)

The facility has two outer platforms, each 290 m long and 76 cm high. The north-south route is between the route kilometers 96.64 and 98.34 in the station, the new route between the kilometers 88.92 and 90.85.

In the north of the station, the new line coming from the north swings south into a direct parallel position to the new line. Switch connections between the new line and the north-south line. In the station area, the new line runs straight and turns north of the station into a curve in a northeastern direction. To the south of the platform area, there is an overtaking track next to the two continuous main tracks on the new line.

history

Conversion as part of the new Hanover – Würzburg line

The station was fundamentally rebuilt as part of the new Hanover – Würzburg line. In order to create space for the new line in the area of the station, the station was completely rebuilt and the tracks of the north-south line were also moved.

planning

In the regional planning procedure for the new line, the station area was in planning section 3 in Lower Saxony. The proceedings ended on September 30, 1977. In the planning approval procedure , the station area was listed as section 3.5 (km 87.950 to 92.220).

According to the planning status at the end of the 1970s, the transfer connections between the new and old lines should be used by freight trains to and from the Göttingen freight yard. An overtaking option for trains in the station was not provided.

construction

The tracks in the station area were changed over a total of 3.6 km in the course of the construction of the new line. The north-south route in the area of the station was shifted slightly to the east in order to avoid interfering with the development. The freight transport facilities were retained, as were the sidings for a sugar factory northeast of the station. On the north-south route, 300 m long outer platforms were built.

A total of five main stages of construction were planned, during which operation on the north-south line was basically to be maintained on two tracks. Restrictions on single-track operations were to be restricted to weekends.

First construction work began in the early 1980s. Since it was not possible to carry out the construction work with the SpDrS59 signal box at that time, the construction of a SpDrS60 signal box began in August 1979 and was put into operation in June 1981. DM 5.1 million was invested in the new building and the electronic equipment. Previously, it had been considered to use a container interlocking for the construction phase and not to put a new interlocking into operation until the new line went into operation.

A substation was built in the northern part of the station area, between the two lines. A new passenger tunnel was built for access to the Hanover – Kassel track.

The renovation work began in March 1983. In 1984, construction work on the new line began in the area of the station. In November 1986 the tracks of the north-south line, the new platforms and the passenger tunnel were completed.
