The Neukirch (Lausitz) West station is an operating point of the Bautzen – Bad Schandau railway line and the branching line to Bischofswerda in the municipality of Neukirch / Lausitz in Saxony. In the tourist traffic it is served by the Trilex of the line RB61 (Dresden - Zittau), freight traffic facilities no longer exist.

history

At the junction of the Bautzen – Bad Schandau railway , which went into operation in 1877, to the line to Bischofswerda opened in 1879, a Nieder-Neukirch stop with a loading point was created in 1879 . In 1888 it was renamed Niederneukirch . On May 1, 1905, it was upgraded to a station. In 1926 it was renamed Neukirch (Laus) West , and in 1934 the station was given its current name.

The massive station building corresponds to the other buildings on the Bautzen - Bad Schandau route.

On December 12, 2004, travel on the Bautzen - Bad Schandau route was discontinued. This section of the route was taken over by DRE in 2007 . Regular freight trains still run here to the Oberottendorf gravel works . The signal box was demolished in 2008 after all points and signals were connected to the Bischofswerda electronic signal box in 2006 .

The freight transport facilities have also been abandoned and are no longer connected to the railways. The goods shed was demolished.

Formerly there was a command signal box in the train station and two guard signal boxes . In the west of the station there was a single half-timbered locomotive shed that still exists today , in front of which there was a turntable . This was expanded in 1977.

Due to its location - the train station is about two kilometers from Niederneukirch - it never played a major role in passenger traffic. Neukirch (Lausitz) Ost train station is much closer to town. Nowadays Neukirch West therefore only has the role of a demand stop for regional trains, while all regional trains and regional express trains stop at the neighboring Neukirch (Lausitz) Ost stop. Neukirch (Lausitz) West still has a certain importance for excursion traffic to the Lausitz mountainous region . The hiking routes to the Valtenberg and the Wesenitz spring begin right at the train station .

Currently (as of 2014) only the house platform (track 1) is used. The platform on track 2, which was renewed after 1990, was closed at the end of 2002 due to the lack of passenger safety at the level crossing.

In 2014 the regional trains on the Dresden – Zittau route stop at Neukirch (Lausitz) West station . As a crossing station, it is only used for passenger traffic for a weekday crossing between a passing and a stopping regional train. In freight traffic, it is touched by the service trips to the Oberottendorf quarry connection, which have to change their direction of travel here.

The reception building is privately owned.
