List of train stations in Italy |
The Schlanders train station ( Italian: Stazione di Silandro ) is located on the Vinschgau Railway in western South Tyrol . Thanks to its location in Schlanders , the capital of the Vinschgau , it has the highest number of passengers in the valley.
location
The station is 745 m above sea level on the western outskirts of Schlanders, which has a central function in the district thanks to several secondary schools and the only hospital in Vinschgau. The villages of Kortsch in the northwest and Göflan in the south can also be reached quickly from here. There is a connection to private transport via the SS 38 , which runs close to the train station .
history
The Schlanders station was opened in 1906 together with the newly built Vinschgau Railway. In 1990 it was shut down like the entire route. After the Vinschgau Railway became the property of the Province of South Tyrol in 1999, the South Tyrolean government decided in 2004 to leave the reception building to the community of Schlanders for 30 years. Since the general renovation and reactivation of the Vinschgau Railway in 2005, the station, which now has a café , is back in operation.
Buildings
The reception building designed by Konstantin Ritter von Chabert has a T-shaped floor plan. The single-storey side wing is complemented on the track side by a wooden loggia. The two-storey transverse building has gabled of truss on. There are also several subordinate equipment sheds in the immediate vicinity.
function
The Schlanders train station is served by SAD regional trains. In addition, the SAD also makes the station accessible via public bus routes.
