List of train stations in Italy |
The Laas train station ( Stazione di Lasa in Italian ) is located on the Vinschgau Railway in western South Tyrol .
location
The station is 867 m above sea level in Vinschgau . It is located between the town center of Laas, which is immediately to the east, and an industrial area in the west.
history

The Laas train station was opened in 1906 together with the newly built Vinschgau Railway. It made a decisive contribution to the economic success of Lasa marble , which could be better marketed nationally and internationally thanks to the new transport route. Since 1930, the terminus of the Lasa marble railway has been located directly next to the train station on a factory site that in earlier years also had a siding . In 1990 the Laas station was shut down like the entire line. After the Vinschgau Railway became the property of the Province of South Tyrol in 1999, the South Tyrolean government decided in 2004 to let the municipality of Laas use the reception building for 30 years. Since the general renovation and reactivation of the Vinschgau Railway in 2005, the station has been in operation again.
As part of the electrification of the Vinschgau Railway, the Laas train station was given a pedestrian underpass in 2017 to make the previously necessary crossing of the tracks superfluous.
Buildings
The reception building designed by Konstantin Ritter von Chabert has a T-shaped floor plan, consisting of a two-storey transverse building and a single-storey side wing. The gable ends of the transverse building have a half-timbered construction , the side wing is supplemented by a wooden loggia on the track side . A water tower on the west side is also part of the historical building stock.
function
Laas train station is served by SAD regional trains. In addition, the SAD also makes the station accessible via public bus routes.
