history
With the construction of the Warsaw-Vienna railway , the Granica border station (later Sosnowiec Maczki ) was built near Sosnowiec, then Sosnowice in Congress Poland . The connection to Warsaw was inaugurated in April 1848 and the one to Vienna in September of that year . The station was about ten kilometers east of the city near the Russian-Austrian border. The first long-distance railway of the Russian Empire was operated on European standard gauge .
In 1859 the direct connection from Sosnowice to Katowice was established in the Prussian rail network. The station building in the classical style was built close to the city center in 1859 and expanded in 1915. The architect was Enrico Marconi . The building at ulica 3 Maja was placed under protection in 1999 and entered in the Polish list of monuments with the number 730672.
With today's route 062 Tunel – Sosnowiec , the gap to Przysieka on the Ivangorod - Radom - Dombrowa line was closed in September 1887 . In the 20th century the station was renamed: 1901 in Sosnowiec (as well as the city), 1918 in Sosnowiec Warszawski , 1931–1950 in Sosnowiec Północny .
