The Trzebież Szczeciński Station ( German  (bath) Trzebiez in Pomerania , 1945 first Trzebiesz nad Zatoką , from 8 May 1945 Trzebierz Szczeciński and from 1 October 1947 Trzebież Szczeciński ) is a place of business on the railway line Szczecin-Trzebież Szczeciński in the Polish seaside resort Trzebież in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Regular passenger traffic was discontinued on September 30, 2002 on the entire route from Szczecin to Trzebież Szczeciński.

history

The advantages that became apparent after the opening of the Stettin – Pölitz – Jasenitz railway on October 15, 1898 led to the decision to extend this line to Ziegenort. The station and the technical facilities were built in 1909 and the fishing village was added to the timetable on March 15, 1910. The train connection served the employees of the companies located on the Oder , in particular the paper mill in Scholwin opened in 1914 . It enabled goods to be transported to the port in Ziegenort and to several shipyards (special siding). During the summer it was a convenient means of transport for vacationers traveling to Bad Ziegenort.

After the war, as soon as the Enclave Police was dissolved, the railway to Trzebież played a similar role. It was the main means of transport for rural residents who worked in Police and Szczecin. It was also used by young people who attended secondary schools in the two cities mentioned.

In 1982 the railway line from Szczecin up to and including the Trzebież Szczeciński station was electrified, but not the local connecting railways.

The expansion of the bus routes into the new residential areas of Police and the commissioning of a local public transport network after 1990 were of fundamental importance. Neither the state bus company PKS nor the railway administration knew how to adapt to market economy conditions.

On January 1, 2004, the station was downgraded to a stopping and loading point, and on June 21, 2008, it was finally downgraded to a loading point only used for freight traffic. The non-electrified connecting line operated by the fuel logistics company OLPP at the station will continue to be served.

building

In 2010 the Trzebież train station celebrated its centenary. In July 2011, the Polish State Railways unexpectedly began demolishing the historic infrastructure. The old water tower could be saved. The engine shed and turntable were demolished.

The monument protection authority of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship placed the preserved water tower and the former station building in Trzebież under monument protection by decision of December 22, 2011.
