history

The "Bahnhof Annen" was opened on March 9, 1849 by the Bergisch Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft on its main line Elberfeld – Dortmund and served the transport of people and goods. The freight yard was built around 500 meters east of the passenger station in the Rüdinghausen district. The dispatch building was located on the area of the planned Ardex Tower, east of it there was a larger warehouse. The western third of the associated track harp was built over with Ardex-Allee.

After the opening of the Annen Süd station on the Dortmund-Löttringhausen – Bochum-Langendreer line of the Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (hence also called "Rheinischer Esel") on December 15, 1880, it was renamed Annen Nord station .

In the 1990s the station area was reorganized and privatized. The old BME reception building was replaced by a private shopping center with a public car park on the roof. In the middle is the access to the platform. The central platform was shortened as part of the redesign and the level exit Stockumer Straße was closed by structural measures. The half-timbered building of the general cargo hall at the west end of the station was demolished and the loading platform dismantled. This completed the construction of the Annen-Mitte bypass. As part of MORA C , the last remaining, but already disused sidings from Siemens , thyssenkrupp and Ardex were removed in the early 2000s .

The tram line 320 went to Anner Nordbahnhof until September 28, 1985. This route was opened on January 4, 1899 by the Märkische tram . At the beginning of 1912 the Märkische tram was taken over by the Bochum-Castroper tram , which in turn merged with the Westphalian tram in May 1912 . This operated the route with the line K (Herbede -) Witten-Westbahnhof - Annen-Nord Bf, which ran every 20 minutes. After the Westfälische was merged with the Bogestra , in 1944 line 29 Witten, Markt - Annen-Nord Bf ran on the branch on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every 20 minutes. In 1970, however, two tram lines served the station, namely line 11 to Witten main station and line 12 via Heven to Herbede. When the VRR tariff was introduced on January 1, 1980 , line 320 was reintroduced to the main station. Since it was discontinued in 1985, bus line 320 has followed the course of the tram.

The station is not served by long- distance passenger rail transport, in terms of local rail passenger transport it is the only S-Bahn stop in the city of Witten next to Witten main station . Since 1994 the line S 5 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr operated by DB Regio NRW GmbH has stopped here at the beginning every 20/40 minutes, since the timetable change in December 2009 every half hour. Since then there has only been a direct connection via Witten main station to Hagen once an hour

The interlocking Waf ( W itten- A can Nord, F ahrdienstleiter) of the type Sp Dr S 60 was put into operation 1970th In the end, only the Stockumer Straße level crossing was controlled here in normal operation. It was decommissioned in May 2006 when the station was dismantled to the stopping point. All switches have been removed. However, the level crossing is still covered by a block signal , which is now controlled from the signal box at Dortmund Central Station.

Others

Level crossing next to the stop

The station is popularly known under the name Wie-A-No and the level crossing is called Glück-Auf -chranke . This comes from the time before the opening of the parallel new line between Dortmund and Witten in 1988, when the line was heavily used by local and long-distance trains and also by a large number of freight trains. In those days you were lucky when the barrier was open.
