description
Zhengzhou East Railway Station has a total of 32 tracks, including two through tracks and 30 platform tracks. The 16 platforms are mostly designed as central platforms . Platforms 1 to 8 are used for the Beijing – Guangzhou high-speed line, and platforms 10 to 16 for the Xuzhou – Lanzhou high-speed line . Trains on both routes depart from platform 9.
The station extends over an area of 412,000 m², of which 210,000 m² is accounted for by the station building. Zhengzhou East Railway Station has five levels, three of which are above ground and two are underground. The lowest level is used by the Zhengzhou subway , the level above is a waiting room for the subway. The ticket offices are on the ground floor; Above are the platforms, which in turn are bridged by a transverse hall with a waiting room and counters for the security checks.
Importance for traffic
Zhengzhou East station is considered to be the largest transfer station in Asia. Its high traffic volume is mainly due to its location: in the north ( Beijing ), east ( Shanghai ) and south ( Hong Kong and Guangzhou ) are populous cities, while from Zhengzhou there are also numerous trains to western China via the high-speed line Xuzhou-Lanzhou - the east-west axis is particularly popular during the Chunyun period . Zhengzhou Central Railway Station and Zhengzhou East Railway Station together form the second largest rail hub in China in terms of passenger numbers. Zhengzhou East Station is designed for 58 million passengers a year.
