The Duchcov – Světec railway was a single-track main line in the Czech Republic serving only goods traffic , which was originally built and operated by the Aussig-Teplitz Railway (ATE). It began near Duchcov ( Dux ) on the main railway Ústí nad Labem – Chomutov (Aussig – Komotau) and led to Světec ( Schwatz ) to connect to the Bielatalbahn (Trmice – Bílina).

history

The line was opened on March 24, 1871 as a tow to the lignite shafts near Schwaz. After the opening of the Bielatalbahn from Türmitz to Bilin , the line was finally converted into a public transport line by ATE on August 24, 1874. Nevertheless, it was only ever used in freight traffic, and passenger train traffic was never introduced.

After the nationalization of ATE, the line was transferred to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD on January 1, 1924 .

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in autumn 1938, the line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Dresden . After the end of the Second World War , the line came back to the ČSD.

In 1962 the line was converted back to a connecting railway. In 1970 it was completely abandoned except for a remaining stretch to operate a glassworks near Světec.
