The Mockrehna − Schildau railway was a branch line in what is now the Free State of Saxony , which was originally built and operated by Kleinbahn-AG Schildau-Mockrehna . It ran from Mockrehna on the Halle − Guben main line to Schildau .
history
Even before the First World War, a standard gauge small railway was planned to the town of Schildau, then located in the Prussian province of Saxony . Kleinbahn-AG Schildau – Mockrehna was founded on September 15, 1919 by the Free State of Prussia, the Province of Saxony, the city of Schildau and six other communities. The company opened freight traffic on June 21, 1921 and passenger traffic to Schildau on August 26, 1922.
In 1939, the vehicle fleet comprised two steam locomotives, one railcar, two passenger cars, one packing car and one freight car.
From December 17, 1942, the company was called "Eisenbahn-AG Schildau – Mockrehna". The small railway department of the Provincial Association of Saxony in Merseburg ran the business until 1945/46 . In 1947 the railway was transferred to the Sächsische Provinzbahnen GmbH and on April 1, 1949 to the Deutsche Reichsbahn . This stopped all traffic on May 22, 1971.
