The Ostrava – Michálkovice railway is a freight transport only railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated as the Mährisch Ostrau – Witkowitz – Michalkowitz mining railway. It runs from Ostrava to Michálkovice .

history

Josefova jáma station (2008)

The line was opened on April 1, 1856 as a horse-drawn railway to the Karolina mine and the Witkowitz ironworks . Locomotive operation began on July 17, 1858. On May 1, 1861, the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) acquired the line. The route to Michalkowitz has been running since January 3, 1863.

Today the route is part of the PKP Cargo International network .
