The kk priv. Ostrau-Friedlander Eisenbahn , Czech .: priv. Ostravsko-frýdlantská dráha was a railway company in Austria and its successor state Czechoslovakia . The main connection of the company led in northern Moravia from Moravská Ostrava ( Mährisch Ostrau ) to Frýdlant nad Ostravicí ( Friedland an der Ostrawitza ). The seat of the company was in Vienna , Nordbahnstrasse 50. President was Hofrat Eduard Freiherr von Sochor-Friedrichsthal .

history

On January 2nd, 1869, the gentlemen " Alois Scholz, Ignaz Wondráček, Antion Honvéry and Maximilian Steiner ... were granted the right to build and operate a locomotive railway from Moravian Ostrau to Friedland " that was connected to the Kaiser Ferdinand-Nordbahn . The basis of the concession was the Railway Concession Act of December 14, 1854. The concessionaires were obliged to start construction of the line within one year and to complete it within two years. In addition, the concession deed allowed that the line was initially only allowed to be single-tracked. The laying of a second track was only required with an annual gross profit of 200,000  florins per Austrian mile for two consecutive years. The duration of the concession was set at 80 years from the date the concession was granted, but redemption by the state was possible at any time after 30 years.

The line between Witkowitz and Friedland was opened on December 1, 1870, followed by the short section from Mährisch Ostrau to Witkowitz on May 21, 1871. The OFE had signed an operating contract with the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) on October 26, 1870, which provided for the operation of the KNFB with their vehicles. This contract has been extended several times.

When the KNFB was obliged to build the Moravian-Silesian urban railway ( Kojetín - Bielitz ) due to its new concession from January 1, 1886 , it wanted to include the section from Friedek-Mistek to Friedland in its project. However, the OFE itself planned some new buildings in the KNFB traffic area, so that negotiations on the purchase or lease of the section did not come to a conclusion for a long time. Only when the KFNB was able to acquire two larger blocks of shares in OFE and were then awarded two seats on the board of directors was a joint use agreement concluded on February 5, 1888. The contract came into force on June 1, 1888.

On August 28, 1909, the Ostrau-Friedlander Eisenbahn received the concession for the local railway from Schönbrunn-Witkowitz to Teschen and Freistadt . As the first part of the local railway, the line between Kunzendorf and Suchau went into operation on November 15, 1911 . On September 1, 1914, the section between Suchau and Teschen followed, then construction work came to a standstill as a result of the First World War . Part of the route lay on the right bank of the Olsa and thus after 1920 on Polish territory. This section was abandoned in 1930 in favor of a connecting curve from Albrechtice to the Kaschau-Oderberger Bahn.

In 1927 the company's headquarters were transferred from Vienna to Mährisch Ostrau in preparation for the planned nationalization . At that time, the majority of the 7,000 shares already belonged to the Czechoslovak state. Only 157 shares were owned by third parties. On January 1, 1936, the company was nationalized by law. From then on, the routes belonged to the network of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
