The Reda – Hel line is a branch line in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It runs from Reda ( German  Rheda ) via Puck ( German  Putzig ) to the Hel peninsula ( German  Hela ).

history

The section from Rheda to Schwarzau (Westpr) was already opened at the turn of the century by the Prussian State Railways as part of the now closed connection to Krokowa ( German:  Krockow ) in two sections:

  • Rheda – Putzig (December 15, 1898)
  • Putzig – Schwarzau (Westpr) (- Krockow) (September 26, 1903)

After the First World War , the line was in the so-called Polish Corridor and came into the possession of the newly founded Polish State Railways (PKP). This extended the route to Hel. On June 19, 1922, the Swarzewo – Hel line was opened.

After the Polish campaign in 1939, the line belonged to the German Empire. The Deutsche Reichsbahn operated the route as course book route 131b (Danzig) Gotenhafen – Neustadt (Westpr) and Rheda (Westpr) –Hela / Krockow. The 1944 timetable recorded a total of five train pairs between Gotenhafen (Gdynia) and Hela.

In 1945 the line came back to the PKP.

Today the route is operated by regional trains on the Gdynia Głowna - Hel route at approximately one to two hour intervals. Direct express trains run to and from Łódź , Wrocław and Kraków in the summer months .

Operating points

Puck station

Puck station

The Puck station ( German  until 1918, 1939/1945: Putzig ) was the terminus of the line from 1898 to 1903. After the extension to Hel was built, the trains to Krokowa began in Puck . For this reason, the station had a locomotive deployment point . This has been abandoned, the water tower torn down.
