The Veles – Kočani railway is a railway line in North Macedonia . The route branches off from the main Tabanovci – Gevgelija route in Veles .

The line was a narrow-gauge railway with a track width opened 600 mm, but in 1926 already standard gauge umgespurt .

Technical parameters

The line is single-track and not electrified. The maximum gradient is 15 ‰, the maximum permissible speed 50 km / h.

traffic

From 2004 to 2008 the passenger train service was stopped on the line. At the beginning of 2008 Makedonski Železnici Transport reintroduced a continuous pair of trains from Skopje via Veles to Kočani. In the 2020 timetable, an interregio train pair continues to run daily from Skopje to Kočani. Scheduled passenger trains need just under two hours for the Veles – Kočani route.
