route

Today, 0.6 million tons of goods are transported annually on the 12 km long route from the Bockum-Hövel train station to Werne , primarily coal to the Gersteinwerk power plant in the Werner district of Stockum , but also wagons for followers. The line branches off at the Bockum-Hövel station from the DB line coming from Münster and leads to Werne to the site of the Werne colliery . The line was built in 1902 to connect the Werne colliery to the rail network. The coal was mainly transported to a steelworks in Georgsmarienhütte . In 1975 the Werne colliery was closed; Since then, coal has been primarily transported to the barley mill on the route. Until at least 1944, according to the drawings on the respective topographical map, there was a connection of the Radbod colliery to what was then shaft IV of the colliery, in the area of today's substation on Wittekindstrasse.

passenger traffic

Until November 15, 1985 the WerBH operated a passenger service on its route in the form of a freight train with passenger transport ( GmP ). The train took about 30 minutes for the twelve kilometers with a stop in Stockum. At the end of operations, there was only one pair of trains running in the mornings on weekdays except Saturdays, which offered a connection to a train to Hamm in Bockum-Hövel . Up to the attitude of the passenger traffic, the track was in the timetable of the DB listed. When it was discontinued, passenger traffic was only around 700 passengers a year.

The stops on this route used to be: Bockum-Hövel WerBHE, Bockum-Hövel (on Hammer Straße), Stockum (by the power station) and Werne ad Lippe-Ost.

Until 1975 there was still steam operation in passenger traffic . In the last few years of operation, the railway kept a sidecar as a passenger car , which was taken over from the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen and which was mostly used behind a diesel locomotive . Until the end, a trip cost 50 pfennigs.

The car was previously in Dortmund in the museum of the Zollern colliery . In October 2011 Eisenbahnfreunde Wismar eV acquired the sidecar, which was built in 1939 under the serial number 21212 by the Wismar wagon factory for the Bleckeder Kleinbahn. He should return to Wismar and be made ready to drive again there.
