The Zagreb – Dugo Selo railway line is a double-track, electrified railway line in Croatia . It is around 21 km long and classified as a route of international importance. It is also part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor Vb from Rijeka via Zagreb to Budapest and the Pan-European Transport Corridor X from Salzburg via Zagreb and Belgrade to Thessaloniki .
history
Together with the Gyékényes line to the north of Dugo Selo , the Zagreb – Dugo Selo line was built by the Hungarian State Railways and put into operation in 1870. Together with the line to Rijeka , which followed south-west of Zagreb and was completed in 1873 , it served traffic between Budapest and the then Hungarian port city of Rijeka .
As a result of the First World War , the catchment area of the route became part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes proclaimed at the end of October 1918 ( Kingdom of Yugoslavia from 1929 ). The Zagreb – Dugo Selo line was also incorporated into the later Yugoslav State Railways on this basis . With Croatia's independence in 1991, the route was transferred to the newly founded Hrvatske željeznice (HŽ) railway company .
As part of the east-west main line Belgrade – Zagreb – Dobova (–Ljubljana) the line was electrified, in 1970 the electric train operation with the AC system 25 kV 50 Hz was started.
