The railway line Zidani Most – Zagreb – Novska , also Croatian Railway , is a main railway line in Slovenia and Croatia .

Geographical location

The Zidani Most – Zagreb section is part of the Austria – Slovenia – Croatia – Serbia transport corridor . The route runs from Zidani Most via Zagreb to Novska , where it meets another branch of the so-called Save Corridor .

history

The "Croatian Railway" from Steinbrück (today: Zidani Most) via Agram (today: Zagreb) to Sissek (today: Sisak) was started in 1855 by the Southern Railway Company as a connection to the Austrian Southern Railway . It was opened on October 1, 1862.

The Sisak – Sunja section goes back to a gap built in 1882 to close the Bosnian military railway Banjaluka – Doberlin built in 1872 , part of the Sandschak Railway project . The Sunja – Novska section was built in 1891 as part of the original connection between Zagreb and Belgrade . The total kilometers show today's branch line as the original main route, which in Novska joins the corridor route Dugo Selo – Novska (M103) - Vinkovci – Tovarnik – state border (M105) to Serbia at Šid .

In 1918 the railway line passed to the Jugoslovenske Železnice .

Infrastructure

The line from Zidani Most to Zagreb is consistently double-tracked. In the western section to the Slovenian border station Dobova it is electrified with 3 kV direct voltage, east of it with 25 kV 50 Hz alternating current. The section (Ljubljana -) Zidani Most - Zagreb is part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor  No. X (Austria - Slovenia - Croatia - Serbia).

business

In the Zagreb – Novska section, the route is now largely used only for regional traffic. But long-distance transport is by train to Bosnia and Herzegovina , which the station Sunja on railroad Sunja-Banja Luka branch.

  • The north-western part is now part of the Slovenian railway line Dobova − Ljubljana
  • The section of the state border at Savski Marof – Zagreb is the Croatian route M101.
  • The south-eastern section belongs to today's route Zagreb – Sisak – Novska (M104).

  2. Because of the unclear border between Slovenia and Croatia on the Sotla / Sutla , the railway line is only in operation for the 5 km to Harmica . Nominally, the Croatian L102 leads to Kumrovec and the state border; the rest of the Imeno - Stranje line in Slovenia is in operation.
