Bakary Sako (born April 26, 1988 in Ivry-sur-Seine ) is a French-Malian football player . His preferred positions are the offensive flanks. Sako's brother Morike is also a professional footballer.

Career

Sako began his career at LB Châteauroux , where he came on May 12, 2006 for his first professional appearance when he was substituted on in the Ligue 2 game against SC Bastia . After three more years in Ligue 2, he was committed to the Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Étienne for four years in the summer of 2009 . From the 2012/13 season Sako was under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers . In summer 2015 he moved to Crystal Palace and played a total of 43 top division games for the club until his departure in summer 2018. In October 2018 he joined the second division side West Bromwich Albion , at the end of January 2019, after only three starting eleven appearances, he canceled his contract with West Bromwich and rejoined Crystal Palace by the end of the season.

After a total of 47 appearances and five goals for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Sako should sign a contract with the Turkish first division club Denizlispor for the 2019/20 season . However, due to an injury to his ankle, he failed the mandatory medical check, whereupon the club waived an obligation.

National team

Sako came to ten missions for the French U-21 national team , in which he scored two goals. He previously played for the Malian U-17 and French U-19 national teams. Ultimately, Sako decided to play for the Malian national team. Since his debut in 2014, he has scored nine goals in 19 appearances (as of July 2019).
