The social and political circumstances under the Ba'ath Party , which hindered the free development of the arts, contributed to Baldin Ahmad's departure. Baldin Ahmad is neither a landscape painter, nor realist or concept artist . Maarten Beks referred to him as "Denkbeeldenschilder", which is how he describes Baldin Ahmad as a painter of imaginations, symbols or pictorial representations. In 1993 Maaike Meijer described the two basic forms in Baldin Ahmad's painting as architectural and natural forms. She described the colors as strong, radiant and deep. Baldin Ahmad mainly uses oil paint and acrylic on cloth, but also chalk and ink. Traces of his Kurdish roots, his life in Italy and the Netherlands and his travels that took him to Mexico can be found in his works. Baldin Ahmad also makes installations and sculptures. There is an installation in Utrecht with which he protested against statements by Geert Wilders .

Giovanni Carandente , director of the Venice Art Biennale in 1988 and 1990, described Baldin's work in the following words:

Baldin's palette is adorable; woven from the ethereal, delicate color schemes in the green of the woods and in pink and blue morning tones. His landscapes float under the reflection of the light, they glow softly and fragile. Its symbolism is just as clear as its technique: a wafer-thin veil or a solid wall hide the otherworldly reality, an unknown unknown, of whose hidden fragments one can nevertheless effortlessly form a picture. "

Marianne de Visser characterized his work as "imaginary cities with Italian light". The painter a.o. had solo and collective exhibitions. a. in Baghdad, Rome, Tunis, Ljubljana, Florence, Venice, Paris, Moscow, Milan, Krakow ( National Museum ), Amsterdam, Brussels, Graz and Macon. In 2013 he had solo exhibitions in Kurdish in as-Sulaimana and in 2014 in Erbil . The representation of the Kurdish regional government in Italy also planned a charity exhibition with Baldin Ahmad and another Kurdish artist in Rome in March 2014. In Europe, among others, Rai Uno , Channel 4 , RTBF and MTV Amsterdam broadcast features about Baldin's work.

In 2016, a sculpture was erected in honor of Ahmad's brother Ahmadi Delâk, who was murdered in 1969 by the Ba'ath regime ( Arabic أحمد الدلاق Aḥmad ad-Dallāq ) in a park that bears his brother's name in Sulaimaniyya .
