The Chagra ( Russian Чагра ) is a left tributary of the Volga in the Russian oblasts of Samara and Saratov .

The Tschagra rises south of Alexejewka in the Kamenny Syrt ridge in the Samara Oblast. It flows mainly in a westerly direction, passes the administrative center of Khvorostyanka and finally flows into it on the eastern bank of the Saratov reservoir . The Tschagra has a length of 251 km. It drains an area of ​​3440 km². The mean discharge 78 km above the mouth is 3.5 m³ / s. The Tschagra is mainly fed by the snowmelt . In April it leads to regular floods . In the summer months the upper reaches of the Tschagra often falls dry. Between November and the beginning of December, the water surface of the Tschagra freezes. In April the river is free of ice again.
