Baldwin of Antioch

Baldwin of Antioch (* before 1149; † September 17, 1176 ) was a prince of Antioch . He was a son of Constanze of Antioch († 1163) and her first husband Raimund of Poitiers († 1149).

His older brother Bohemond III. inherited rule over the principality of Antioch from his mother in 1163 . His sister Maria had married Emperor Manuel I of Byzantium in 1161 .

Around 1162 he accepted the emperor's invitation to his sister at the Byzantine court in Constantinople . He joined the Byzantine army there. He accompanied Emperor Manuel in 1176 on his campaign against the Rum Seljuks . In the Battle of Myriokephalon on September 17, 1176, he led the right wing of the Byzantine army, which suffered a catastrophic defeat in the battle. Baldwin was also killed in the battle.
