Bali Cinema (Alzey)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bali Kino in the Rheinhessen town of Alzey was opened in 1954 as a station light show near Alzey station. Today's feature film cinema has been under new management since December 13, 2012. It has a screen, 196 seats and is one of the last four remaining station light playhouses in Germany. There are only more in Berlin, Bochum and Kassel, in contrast to that it is not an art house cinema .

The Alzeyer Kino plays a special role among the train station cinemas, as it is one of the few that was located in a small town. The program differed significantly from the train station cinemas in large cities such as Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf or Cologne, where, not least, anonymity ensured that films were shown there that could not be seen anywhere else.

history

1953 to 2012

The cinema was built in 1953 near the Alzeyer train station and opened a year later.

In 2011 only around 4,000 guests visited the cinema. In October 2012 it was announced that the last remaining cinema in Alzey was to be closed. There would have been no more cinema within a radius of 30 kilometers, as the closest ones are in Bad Kreuznach, Mainz and Worms. Thereupon the native North German Claus Hadenfeldt took over the cinema.

Since 2012

After buying the traditional movie theater in autumn 2012, the new owner Claus Hadenfeldt converted a six-figure sum into a modern picture with 3D technology ( HFR-3-D format ) and sound technology (Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound), as well as a new one Floor and new seating was invested. In addition to the digital projector, there is also an old film projector for 35 millimeters of film in the projector room .

After the conversion and renovation, the cinema reopened on December 12, 2012 at 12.12 p.m. To reopen, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was shown as the first film.

In the second year, 2014, almost 25,000 film enthusiasts came to the Bali Kino. In total, by the end of October 2015, more than 60,000 visitors had seen well over 200 different films. In the third year, 32,000 viewers visited the cinema, which consists of just one hall with 202 seats.

Since the “Bali Kino” lettering, which consists of fluorescent tubes , can no longer be produced technically, an LED lettering has been illuminated on the facade of the cinema since December 2015 .

For the three-year anniversary there was an open day on December 13, 2015, as well as a free film screening from the films shown so far. There was also a survey that you could participate in on the Internet. The 3-D version of The Great Gatsby was shown .
