Balmaha ( Gaelic : Baile Mo Thatha ) is a hamlet on the east bank of Loch Lomond in the Stirling Council Area in Scotland.
The name Balmaha comes from Gaelic and stands for "Place of the Holy Maha", which suggests that the village has ancient origins - perhaps as a hermit residence . Today it is a popular tourist destination, especially for the residents of Glasgow , but also for walkers on the West Highland Way . Boat trips are available from Balmaha to the villages of Balloch and Luss and Inchcailloch Island .
Balmaha is at the western foot of Conic Hill , and is 20 miles from the West Highland Way .
The village has a visitor center for visitors to the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
