Balthasar Burkart

Balthasar Burkart (born January 4, 1896 in Dauchingen ; † August 9, 1960 in Rastatt ) was a German mechanic , construction worker and politician ( BCSV / CDU ).

After finishing school, Burkart worked in the watch factory of the Junghans brothers in Schwenningen . In 1915 he was committed to military service. After returning from the First World War in 1919, he worked in the watch factory again, but now as a foreman in another branch. In 1931 he switched to construction, and in 1936 he was employed in a brick factory. At the beginning of World War II in 1939, Burkart was drafted into military service. After the end of the war in 1945 he returned from a Soviet captivity and worked as a worker in a Rastatt foundry. Since 1946 he took up his political activities as a city and district councilor in Rastatt, became a member of the advisory council of Baden and became a politician of the Baden Christian Social People's Party (BCSV). After the incorporation of the BCSV into the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), he continued to be politically active for this party.
