Baltic Flyway

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baltic Flyway was a network that was supposed to promote nature conservation on the Baltic Sea coastal areas on both sides of the Fehmarnbelt . The corresponding bird airline is used every year by millions of migratory and breeding birds on their way to their summer quarters. The project lasted from 2010 to 2013.

The EU project Baltic Flyway was implemented as part of the INTERREG IVA program. Baltic Flyway was an interdisciplinary network between communities, organizations and nature centers around the Fehmarnbelt. The aim of the network was to safeguard nature and its ecological diversity along the Vogelfluglinie. The bird stations and reserves worked together across borders along the bird flight route in Germany and Denmark, as did the nature conservation initiatives to promote biological features.
