Baltijas Džips Ltd. ( German : Baltic off-road vehicle) was a Latvian automobile manufacturer .

Company history

The company from Riga began in 1995 under the management of Felix Tontegode with the plans for the production of automobiles . The first vehicle was presented in 1997. Production also ended in 1997. It was planned that the twelve employees would complete one vehicle every day, thus achieving an annual production of 200 vehicles. In total, however, only about 10 copies were made.

The only model BD-1322 or Tantor BD-3122 was an off-road vehicle . The vehicle was available with a short and long wheelbase. Another source gives the wheelbase at 245 cm. The vehicles were used both in agriculture and for municipal purposes. The body was made of plastic .

According to two sources, a petrol engine with 105 hp and a diesel engine with 109 hp from Iveco were available for the drive . Another source mentions a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2445 cc and 102 hp. The maximum speed was given as 125 km / h. The new price was the equivalent of around DM 25,000 .
