Bantunding is a town in the West African state of Gambia .
According to a calculation for 2013 about 1103 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 797. All residents belong to the Mandinka ethnic group .
geography
Bantunding located on the north bank of the Gambia River , in the Upper River Region District Wuli , around 0.3 kilometers from the North Bank Road , between Baja Kunda and Chamoi Bunda removed.
history
The severe flooding in Gambia in 2010 resulted in a crocodile infestation and the villagers were ordered to leave their farms .
economy
Agriculture is the main source of income for the residents. Above all, subsistence farming is carried out. As a cash crop are peanuts grown. Rice and Coos (local name for millet ) are grown as staple foods .
Infrastructure
Bantunding has a primary school , which only goes from the 1st to the 3rd level (normally the primary school in Gambia consists of 6 school years). The village has only one clean water source , it is a hand pump.
