Bao Yingying

Bao Yingying ( Chinese  包 盈盈 , Pinyin Bāo Yíngyíng ; born November 6, 1983 in Qidong , Jiangsu ) is a Chinese sword fencer .

She began her career as a competitive athlete in 1997 at the Nantong Sports School. In 1999, she moved to Nanjing Sports University and joined the Jiangsu Province fencing team. She has been a member of the Chinese national fencing team since 2001.

In the very first year she achieved her first international success with third place in the individual at the Universiade in Beijing . In the following year she won the individual and team titles at the Junior World Championships in Antalya and the gold medal at the Asian Games as a member of the Chinese saber team.

In 2003 she won the silver medal with the Chinese team at the World Championships in Havana . She also came in second at the 2007 Asian Championships in Nantong in singles.

In August 2008, she took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing for the first time and finished sixth after a quarter-final defeat against the later Olympic champion Mariel Zagunis , with the team she received bronze.

In 2009 she won the bronze medal with the Chinese team at the Fencing World Championships in Antalya . Since the 2009/2010 season she has not taken part in any international competition.
