Baoye Street

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baoye Dao ( 褒 斜 道 , Bāoyé dào ) is an old Shu street . It is named after the river valleys of the two rivers Bao He褒 河 - also called Bao Shui (Bāo Shuǐ 褒 水) - and Ye Shui (Yé Shuǐ 斜 水). The two rivers arise from the Taibai Shan太白 山 in the Qin Ling Mountains . The Bao Shui (Bao He) flows into the Han Shui River in the south ; the Ye Shui joins the Wei Shui in the north , about 30 km southwest of Mei . In the time of the Han dynasty , under Emperor Wudi, a canal was built (the so-called Bao-Ye waterway 褒 斜 水道), which was not completed. Since that time it has been one of the most important south-north connections in the Qin Ling. Many rock inscriptions have been preserved that go back to the time of the Han Dynasty.
