Barbara Erskine

Barbara Erskine (born August 10, 1944 in Nottingham ; real name Barbara Hope-Lewis ) is an Irish-British author.

Life

Her father's family lived in the British East India Company for 200 years . Her mother's family came from the south west of Ireland . Erskine studied Scottish history at Edinburgh University and worked for a school book publisher. She wrote numerous novels that have been translated into twenty languages. Many of her books became bestsellers. Some of her works are a mixture of historical novels and contemporary literature (“Die Herrin von Hay”). She is also known for her scary and supernatural stories ("The Curse of Belheddon Hall").

Barbara Erskine is one of the patrons of the book festival in Essex ( Essex Book Festival ).

Erskine lives in Wales and on a country estate in Essex , England.
