Barbara Leigh (* 16th November 1946 as Barbara Ann Kish in Ringgold , Georgia ) is an American actress .

Life

Leigh moved to Los Angeles in 1967 and worked as a photo model. Among other things, she was seen four times in Playboy between 1971 and 1977 , and was photographed several times by Helmut Newton . She began her acting career in 1969 with an appearance in the television film The Ballad of Andy Crocker with Lee Majors in the title role. She chose her stage name because of the actress Vivien Leigh . In 1970 she starred in one of the leading roles in Stephanie Rothman's low-budget film The Student Nurses , the first film by Roger Corman's production company New World Pictures. The following year she was seen alongside Rock Hudson and Telly Savalas in Roger Vadim's comedy One by One . She played the part of Charmagne in Sam Peckinpah's Western Junior Bonner . As a result, she played in the Blaxploitationfilmen men like the Tiger by Stephanie Rothman and Boss Nigger of Jack Arnold .

It was a few years before her next screen appearance, in the meantime she appeared in guest roles in television series such as The Incredible Hulk and Detective Rockford - a call is enough . Your last roles date back to 1979; she played the leading female role alongside William Smith in the action film Seven - The Super Professionals and one of the lead roles in the adventure film Diane - Lady of the Jungle .
