Barbara Locher

Barbara Locher (* in Bern ) is a Swiss soprano and professor of solo singing at the Academy of Music in Lucerne .

life and career

Barbara Locher grew up in Bern, where she received her vocal training at the conservatory from Jakob Stämpfli , and later in Basel from Elsa Cavelti . Her repertoire often includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach . From 1979 to 1982 she took part in the “International Summer Academy Johann Sebastian Bach” in Stuttgart and has been an international concert and opera singer since the 1980s , including in 1985 as the soprano of the coffee cantata at the Bavarian Chamber Opera . In 1988 she sang the soprano in a performance of the St. John Passion by the Basel Bach Choir , and in 1999 she performed the B minor Mass with the Berlin Philharmonic Choir .

With the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences she recorded several CDs with works by Frank Martin and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .
