Barbara Neubauer , née Kienzl, (born December 4, 1955 in Köflach , Styria ) is an Austrian art historian . From 2008 to 2018 she was President of the Federal Monuments Office .

Life

Barbara Neubauer studied art history and history in Graz with a focus on the baroque in Austria . From 1983 she worked as a freelancer at the Federal Monuments Office in Carinthia, where she worked on the Austrian Art Topography project. From 1988 she worked at the State Conservatory for Carinthia and from 1990 in Vienna , where she was also the State Conservator from 2002 to 2008.

In 1997 she was a participant in a course on issues of monument protection and conservation practice ( ICCROM ) in Rome .

In 2008 she was appointed President of the Federal Monuments Office, and in 2013 her contract was extended by five years. As this she was also a member of the Advisory Board for Building Culture in the Federal Chancellery . Her term of office ended at the end of July 2018 and her contract was no longer renewed.
