Barbara Röhner ( née Budig ; * 1969 in Luckenwalde ) is a German art historian and curator .

Life

Barbara Röhner was born in Luckenwalde in 1969 as Barbara Budig. Her father was a Protestant pastor and superintendent from Eisleben , her mother a teacher from Quedlinburg. After POS and training as a nurse in Halle / Saale , she passed her high school diploma in 1992 in evening studies. This was followed by studying philosophy and art history at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Halle with Wolfgang Schenkluhn . Barbara Röhner works and researches on art topics in the GDR . In 2001 she founded the art association ars avanti in Leipzig and in 2003 initiated the annual open studios in Leipzig. The Great Saxon Art Exhibition curated by Röhner followed in 2005. From 2007–2012 she conceived and curated the exhibition areas in the Westwerk Leipzig and from 2009 that of the Offspace Alte Handelsschule . Barbara Röhner has been teaching semiotics and design history at Macromedia University since 2016 .

Barbara Röhner lives and works in Leipzig. She is married to Falk Röhner and has two children together.
