Walter Wolf Falk Röhner (* 1972 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German designer and businessman. Röhner became known as the founder of the art quarters Westwerk and Alte Handelsschule in Leipzig , as well as a founding member of the Revolutionary Autonomous Youth Association RAJV during the peaceful revolution in the GDR .

Life

As the son of the Chemnitz designer Wolf Röhner and the teacher Renate Röhner, Röhner became involved in the opposition environmental and peace group of the Pauli-Kreuz-Gemeinde in Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1988 and narrowly escaped his arrest by the Ministry for State Security several times in 1989 . During the political changes in the GDR in 1989/1990 he was a co-founder of the Revolutionary Autonomous Youth Association, the first opposition youth association in the GDR, and represented it at the round table of the youth opposition and at Monday demonstrations . From 1990 to 1992 Röhner worked intermittently as a farm hand in Canada and toured extensively in the USA , Mexico , Guatemala and El Salvador . After graduating from high school, he studied Protestant theology at the MLU in Halle / S from 1993 to 1995 . and until 2001 industrial design at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein .

In 2007 Röhner founded the listed international art quarters Westwerk , with studios for 120 artists, and in 2009 the old commercial school with room for 100 artists in the west of Leipzig . Then in 2013, organized together with friends, the Ostblock living and working project followed, a cooperative for the alternative settlement of a block of houses in the social hotspot Eisenbahnstraße in Leipzig-Volkmarsdorf . Falk Röhner is a lecturer in creativity technology in design.

Röhner has been with the art historian Barbara Röhner , b. Budig, married, father of two children. Röhner lives and works in Leipzig Kleinzschocher and is a hunter .

Varia

Röhner's brother is the Dresden photographer Holm Röhner. On the maternal line, Röhner is related to Hinrigge Balthasar , one of Huldrych Zwingli's Swiss bodyguards during the Last Supper dispute in Marburg in 1529 with Luther and Melanchton .
