Barbara Saebel

Barbara Saebel (born March 5, 1959 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2016 .

Life

Barbara Saebel grew up in the GDR and attended the Polytechnic High School in East Berlin from 1965 to 1975. From 1975 to 1977 she completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk. From 1977 to 1989 she worked as a commercial clerk. In 1989 she fled the GDR and moved to Baden-Württemberg. From 1990 to 1992 she worked in the jewelry industry. From 1992 to 1994 she studied business administration . She has been working as a consultant in the housing industry since 1997. She has a daughter.

Political career

Saebel has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 1990. From 1999 to 2016 she held a mandate on the Ettlingen municipal council . From 2004 to 2016 she was chairwoman of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group and a member of the administrative committee of the city of Ettlingen. She is a member of the Upper Rhine Council. On May 26, 2019 , she was elected to the district council of the Karlsruhe district.

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 , Saebel won a direct mandate (first mandate) in the state electoral district of Ettlingen . In the state parliament she is a member of the Finance Committee and the Committee for Europe and International Affairs. She is also spokeswoman for the parliamentary group of the Greens for cultural properties of the state of Baden-Württemberg and is responsible for the area of ​​monument protection in the parliamentary group.
