Barbara Taylor Bradford

Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE (born May 10, 1933 in Leeds , West Yorkshire , England , United Kingdom ) is an English novelist.

Life

After attending school, Bradford first worked in the typing office of the Yorkshire Evening Post before turning to journalism. At the age of 20 she was a fashion reporter for Woman's Own Magazine and on the editorial staff, as well as in charge of Fleet Street coverage for the London Evening News .

Bradford's first novel: A Woman of Substance was published in 1979. The success of this book was enormous. Another 26 novels followed by 2011, as well as children's books and guides for home, family life and religious questions, all of which were very successful. Some of the books have been used in television series.

Bradford was married to television producer Robert Bradford (1925-2019) since 1963 . She lives in New York . Her image was used as a motif on postage stamps from the Caribbean states of St. Vincent and Grenada in 1999 and on a stamp from the Isle of Man in 2003 . On the occasion of her birthday in 2007, Queen Elizabeth II awarded her the OBE .

In 2009, the Sunday Times estimated Bradford's net worth at approximately £ 166 million sterling.
