Barbara Wolff (photographer)

Barbara Wolff (* 1951 in Kyritz , Brandenburg ) is a German photographer .

Life

Barbara Wolff was born in the Prignitz region of Brandenburg as the daughter of the photographer Werner Hinz.

After graduating from high school, she completed an apprenticeship in her father's company and studied photography from 1970 to 1975 at the University of Graphic Art in Leipzig . After graduating, she worked as a freelance illustrator , photographer and graphic designer . Photo collages and montages were defining styles for her during this time . Between 1982 and 1985 she lived in Sechzehneichen in Brandenburg . This is where the long-term project about the village and its residents was born.

After an application to leave the country, Wolff moved to the Federal Republic in 1985 and settled in Munich. This was followed by stays abroad and trips, e.g. B. to Guatemala, Paris or Vietnam. Wolff has been working as a freelance photographer and graphic designer for the Linhof camera works in Munich since 1989 . From 1998 to 2011 she taught visual communication and photography at the Design School in Munich.

During her other freelance activities, she set up photographic workshops in countries such as B. led Brazil or Yemen and gave lectures on photography in China, Finland and Vietnam.

Wolff lives and works in Berlin.
