Barbara Yurtdaş

Barbara Yurtdaş (born October 8, 1937 in Leipzig ) is a German-born writer and teacher who lives in Turkey .

life and work

Barbara Yurtdaş writes novels, short stories, poems and books on relevant topics such as Istanbul. A travel companion (2004). She made her debut in 1985 with the story One Lunar Month .

The novels, German-Turkish family stories such as Where my husband is at home ... (1996) and Where I'm at home too (1994) are strongly autobiographical.

Barbara Yurtdaş has translated numerous books into German, for example novels by Duygu Asena and Mario Levi . In 2015 she received the Tarabya Translator Award for literary translations from Turkish.
