Baron Butler of Moore Park
Baron Butler , of Moore Park in the County of Hertford was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of England .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was created on September 17, 1666 for Thomas Butler, 6th Earl of Ossory , when he was appointed to the English Parliament by Writ of Summons . He had already been appointed to the Irish Parliament on August 8, 1662 by Writ of Acceleration as the 6th Earl of Ossory and thereby inherited the Earl of Ossory title created in 1528 in the Peerage of Ireland from his father .
His son, the 2nd Baron, inherited the title of 3rd Lord Dingwall from his grandmother in 1684 and also the title of 2nd Duke of Ormonde and subordinate title from his grandfather in 1688 . After participating in the Jabokite uprisings of 1715 , his titles were stripped of his treason charges.
His descendant, the 7th Earl Cowper , achieved on July 31, 1871 that the Baron Butlers of Moore Park and Lord Dingwall were restored for him . At his death in 1905, the Barony Butler fell in Abeyance , his subordinate titles Baron Lucas and Lord Dingwall fell to his nephew Auberon Herbert , the Earldom and his other titles lapsed.
