The Barrett M98B (or Barrett 98 Bravo ) is a sniper rifle that was developed and produced by Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc in the United States . The weapon is a bolt action rifle and fires .338 Lapua Magnum ammunition. The M98B was officially launched in October 2008 and has been on the US market since 2009.

Development of the M98B began in 1997 with the aim of creating a tactical sniper rifle with .338 Lapua Magnum ammunition that was not based on the design of existing sporting rifles .
